Rural Renewable Energy Program

Funding has now been fully allocated for the Rural Renewable Energy Program and this program has now closed.

The Rural Renewable Energy Program provided rebates for grid-connect renewable energy power systems in specific 'fringe of grid' areas of the South West electricity grid.

The program was supported by the Australian Government through the Renewable Remote Power Generation Program, which is administered in Western Australia by the State Government's Sustainable Energy Development Office.

Rebates for Small Projects (500W to 30kW)

The Rural Renewable Energy Program - Small Projects (grid connected systems) has now closed and applications to this program will no longer be accepted by the Sustainable Energy Development Office.  (Please note that this change does not affect applications for off-grid renewable energy systems that are eligible for funding under the Remote Area Power Supply (RAPS) program.)

The program provided rebates (typically up to 50%) for small renewable energy power systems with a rated capacity of 500W to 30kW connected to 'fringe of grid' areas of the South West electricity grid.

Rebates for Medium Projects (30kW to 2 MW)

The Rural Renewable Energy Program – Medium Projects (grid connected systems) has now closed and applications to this program will no longer be accepted by the Sustainable Energy Development Office.  (Please note that this change does not affect applications for off-grid renewable energy systems that are eligible for funding under the Remote Area Power Supply (RAPS) program.)

The program provided rebates (typically up to 50%) for renewable energy power systems with a rated capacity of 30kW to 2MW connected to 'fringe of grid' areas of the South West electricity grid.

Applications for medium projects were made through competitive funding rounds.
