Global Warming - Cool it! is a simple guide produced by the Australian Greenhouse Office to help you reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions at home.

Your Home Design Guide
The Australian Greenhouse Office also provides consumer and technical guide materials and tools to encourage the design, construction or renovation of homes to be comfortable, healthy and environmentally sustainable.

GreenSmart Homes
GreenSmart is a program run by the Housing Industry Association to develop, demonstrate and promote the technologies, design principles and practices that can improve the quality to Australia's built environment. The main goals of GreenSmart homes are to improve energy and water efficiency, enable home owners to waste less and recycle more, reduce waste from the building process and improve site management during construction.

NatHERS - Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme
Heating and cooling homes adds cost to energy bills and impacts the environment. The amount of energy needed to stay warm in winter and cool in summer can easily be reduced by the good design and construction of our homes.
Assessing a building's thermal performance at design stage can identify simple, economical ways to make it more comfortable and save energy.

Climate Clever greenhouse gas emissions calculators
These web-based calculators allow you to determine the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by your household or small business.

Water Saving Tips
The Water Corporation provides tips on saving water at home - the more hot water you save, the more energy you'll save.

The Department of Environment has information on a range of environmental matters relevant to WA communities.

Solar House Day
Showcasing good residential designs that respond to the sun, the breezes and the natural surroundings. Vist homes built or renovated that use drastically less heating, lighting and virtually no cooling other than that provided freely by the sun and our environment. Take the opportunity to speak with designers and owners of climate-sensitive homes in W.A. on Sunday 11 September 2005.

Cities for Climate Protection Program
The Cities for Climate Protection Program is an international trade-marked program of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives. The program, which is delivered in collaboration with the Australian Greenhouse Office, assists local governments and their communities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Cool Communities Project
Cool Communities is an Australian Greenhouse Office project delivered in collaboration with the Conservation Council in WA. The Cool Communities project provides information, support and financial assistance to help communities undertake easy practical actions to achieve a reduction in greenhouse pollution. Just about any conceivable group with a common bond is considered a community, including municipalities.

Transport - TravelSmart
TravelSmart is a Western Australian program run by the Department of Transport to encourage people to use alternatives to travelling by car. The TravelSmart approach can reduce car use and promote balanced transport in local communities. The Department of Transport works closely with local governments to develop and implement local plans to influence travel behaviour.

Environment House
Environment House is a resource for people in Perth wanting to know more about sustainable living, in their own homes, gardens and workplaces. You can also register online for the FREE Cool House Workshops.

Subiaco Sustainable Demonstration Home
The Subiaco Sustainable Demonstration Home recently achieved a FirstRate five-star house energy rating and is now setting a new benchmark in ecologically sensitive housing. It has been designed to demonstrate that an environmentally friendly and energy efficient home can be architecturally and aesthetically pleasing, as well as functional.

Mandurah Sustainable Display Home
The Mandurah Sustainable Display Home officially opened its doors on 31 May 2005. The Sustainable Energy Development Office was one of the sponsors of the home.
